Site checkup
Check whether AI search crawlers can reach your site, whether you have an llms.txt file, and whether your homepage says what your business is.

Before an AI assistant can cite your site, its search crawler has to be allowed in, and it helps when your site says plainly who you are. Site checkup tests three of those basics on your own site and turns anything that fails into a to-do with the exact text to fix it.
Where to find it
Site checkup is a strip at the top of the To-dos page, headed Site checkup and your site's domain. It checks the website saved on your brand, so make sure that address is right in Settings.
Each check shows its result:
- Pass: the check found what it looks for.
- Fix: the check failed. A to-do with the exact fix is on your list, or appears when you generate to-dos.
- Couldn't check: we could not reach your site or tell either way, for example because of a network error, a server error or a bot wall. This never creates a to-do, and never closes one.
The strip also says when the site was last checked.
The three checks
AI search crawlers allowed
Your robots.txt must let in the crawlers that AI assistants use to search the web: OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT), Claude-SearchBot (Claude) and PerplexityBot (Perplexity). If it blocks them, those assistants can't fetch your pages to answer a question. A site with no robots.txt at all passes.
Blocking AI training crawlers is your choice and never fails this check. Only the search crawlers count. The fix is a robots.txt block to paste.
llms.txt file
Your site has a file at /llms.txt, and it is a text file rather than an HTML page. A file made by an SEO plugin counts. The fix is a starter llms.txt you can edit and upload.
Business markup on homepage
Your homepage carries structured data that says what your business is: an Organization or LocalBusiness block, or one of their more specific types. The fix is an Organization block, in JSON-LD, to add to your homepage.
How the to-dos work
Each failing check becomes a to-do on your list, with the exact text to paste. When a later check passes, its to-do closes itself. See To-dos (action plan).
Checks run again on their own each week. After you make a fix, choose Re-check now to test it straight away. You can re-check a brand once every 5 minutes.
What it fetches
Each checkup reads three public addresses on your site: /robots.txt, /llms.txt and your homepage. The requests identify themselves as Peekaboo-Site-Checkup/1.0. Nothing is changed on your site.
What a pass does and does not mean
Site checkup tests technical access, not visibility.
- A pass is not a promise. An open robots.txt, an llms.txt file and business markup make your site easier for AI assistants to read and identify. They don't make an assistant mention or cite you.
- A fail is not a verdict. A failing check is a clear, fixable gap. It tells you what to fix, not how much fixing it will move your score.
- Three checks, not an audit. It does not check your sitemap, page speed, page status codes or content. Use your Sources and AI Crawlers data to see what AI models actually read and cite.
Frequently asked questions
I block AI training bots. Will the crawler check fail?
No. Only the AI search crawlers count: OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot and PerplexityBot. Blocking training crawlers is your choice and never fails the check.
What does Couldn't check mean?
We could not reach your site or tell either way, for example because of a server error or a bot wall. It never creates or closes a to-do. Choose Re-check now to try again.
