SEO data tools in MCP
Put Google traffic, search demand, live results and backlink gaps next to your AI visibility, inside Claude, Cursor or any MCP client.

You already know where your brand stands in AI answers. The next question is usually about Google: who wins there but loses in AI, which prompts people actually ask, and which sites link to your competitors but not to you. The optional SEO tools in AI Peekaboo's MCP server put third-party SEO data next to your own AI visibility data, inside Claude, Cursor or any other MCP client.
Before you start
- Connect AI Peekaboo to your MCP client with an API key. See Connect Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT via MCP.
- The SEO tools only read data, so a read key is enough.
- MCP needs an active paid plan, as for the rest of the API.
The five tools
| Tool | What it answers |
|---|---|
get_seo_overview | How your brand and your competitors compare on AI visibility over the last 30 days against Google strength: estimated monthly organic traffic, ranking keyword count and domain rank. Shows who wins in Google but loses in AI answers, and the reverse |
get_prompt_demand | For each tracked prompt, how many people ask it: AI-assistant search volume, Google search volume, intent and difficulty, next to your visibility on it. High-demand prompts where you are barely visible are marked as opportunities |
get_serp_snapshot | The live Google top 10 and the AI Overview for one keyword, with each result marked as yours, a tracked competitor's, or by how often AI assistants already cite that site for your prompts |
get_backlink_gap | Sites that link to your competitors but not to you, ranked first by how often AI assistants cite them for your prompts, then by how many competitors they link to |
get_seo_data_usage | What your workspace has used this month, its allowance, and what is left. Free to call |
A few limits apply:
get_seo_overviewcompares your brand with up to 15 competitors.get_prompt_demandchecks your 50 most recent active prompts by default, up to 200.get_serp_snapshottakes one keyword of 2 to 200 characters.get_backlink_gapreturns 25 sites by default, up to 100. It needs your brand's website and competitors with websites.
Ask in plain language
You don't need to name the tools. Ask your AI client things like:
- "Which of our competitors rank well in Google but are weak in AI answers?"
- "Which of our tracked prompts have the most demand and our lowest visibility?"
- "Show me the Google results and the AI Overview for best crm for small business, and mark which sites AI already cites for us."
- "Which sites link to our competitors but not to us, and which of those does AI cite?"
A separate monthly allowance
The SEO data comes from a third-party SEO data provider, and each call costs us money. So the SEO tools have their own monthly allowance per workspace, separate from your API request limits:
- Ask
get_seo_data_usageat any time to see this month's use, the allowance and what is left. That call is free. - Results we already have cached are free.
- The allowance resets on the 1st of each month (UTC).
When the allowance is used up, calls say so and say when it resets. Your other MCP tools keep working. SEO data can also pause until the next day when a daily limit is reached, or be briefly unavailable. The message says which, so try again later.
The calls still count toward your normal API and MCP request limits, like any other tool call. See REST API for those limits.
What the SEO data does not change
SEO data never feeds your visibility scores. The tools read your AI visibility exactly as the dashboard shows it, and place the third-party numbers beside it. Nothing in your dashboard, exports or reports changes when you use them.
Treat the third-party numbers, such as estimated traffic, search volume and domain rank, as estimates from the provider, not measurements of your site. Your own Search Console and Google Analytics data stay the authority for your own site.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when the SEO allowance runs out?
SEO tool calls say the allowance is used up and that it resets on the 1st of the month (UTC). Cached results stay free, and your other MCP tools keep working.
