Local tracking

Someone asking ChatGPT or Google for "the best accountant near me" in Chicago gets a different answer from someone asking in London, and your standard visibility score cannot see that difference. It measures every prompt from your brand's country as a whole. Local tracking adds a second, separate check that asks the same prompt from one specific city, so you can see whether you show up where your customers actually are.

What local tracking adds

Your normal tracking keeps running exactly as before. Local tracking runs alongside it as an extra check on Google AI Mode, targeted at the city you choose. Each prompt can have one city. The local answers, the brands they mention and the pages they cite are stored separately, so your Overview score, your prompt table and your competitor comparisons do not change when you switch it on.

Turn it on for a prompt

1. Open the Prompts page and click Add local tracking under the prompt you want to localize, or open the prompt and switch to the Local tracking view.
2. Search for a city. You can type a city, a state or region, or a country, and narrow the list with the Country and State / region filters. The catalog covers 65,042 cities across 216 countries and territories, including every US state.
3. Select the exact match. The map preview and the Tracking location card show which city you picked, so a Springfield in Illinois is never confused with a Springfield in Missouri.
4. Click Enable local tracking. The first local check runs with your brand's next scheduled analysis.

Read your local results

Once a check completes, the Local tracking view shows a Local performance summary for the selected date range: how many completed local answers mentioned your brand, which competitors appeared, and which pages were cited. Below it, Latest local answers lists the actual responses returned for that city, each marked as mentioning your brand or not, with the sources it cited.

The date picker at the top of the page controls the window, up to 90 days. A check that is still queued shows as pending, and a check that returned an answer but could not be analysed is counted separately rather than being treated as a miss. If no checks have completed yet in the range, the panel says so instead of showing a zero.

Change or stop a city

Open the prompt's Local tracking view and click Change city to pick a different location, or Stop local tracking to end the checks. Stopping keeps the answers you already collected, and the history for each city stays attached to that city. If you change from Boston to New York, the Boston results remain readable as Boston results; they are never merged into the new city's history.

Pausing or archiving the prompt itself pauses its local checks as well. Restore the prompt and the local checks resume at the same city.
