How we get the dataA share counts answers, not links
A site's share is the percentage of answers that cite it at least once. Five citations in one answer still count once.
Sources and citationsBrand and local questions left out
Questions naming a brand are excluded, and so are the 30.2% that named a place, so this covers non-local questions.
What local tracking measuresA balanced random sample
Each category is a random sample of up to 15,000 answers, and no single question set makes up more than 30% of it.
Sites need broad support
A site is listed only when it appears in at least 3 independent question sets, so no one account can put it there.
Read small gaps with care
AI answers shift from day to day, so small gaps are noise. Categories under 2,000 answers are flagged as a small sample.
